Root rot is one of the key constraints to pea and lentil production in western Canada.   Various research approaches are being used to address this problem including breeding for improved resistance.  The Crop Development Centre pea breeding program is attempting to introgress resistances to Aphanomyces and Fusarium root rots into high yielding backgrounds well suited to the Canadian prairies.  This presentation will summarize the progress to date.
