Dr. Gaganpreet Kaur Dhariwal is a Molecular Weed Biologist with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) in Lethbridge, Alberta. Gaganpreet completed her doctorate in Botany from Punjab Agricultural University in India. Over the years she has worked on improving the quality of maize and pulse crops, and combating disease resistance and abiotic stress tolerance in wheat, triticale, forage crops and herbicide resistance in weeds using molecular biology.

Gaganpreet is using her basic and applied field knowledge from years of experience in studying plant molecular and physiological mechanisms in developing test for herbicide-resistant weeds. She is passionate about establishing fast accurate methods for detecting herbicide-resistance in weeds in Western Canada. She is also developing molecular tools to manage herbicide-resistant Kochia.
