Ms. Jennifer Otani is a Research Scientist hired to work in the area of Insect Pest Management with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada based at the Beaverlodge Research Farm. Jennifer’s research encompasses insect pests and beneficial arthropods occurring in both annual and perennial field crops grown in the Peace River region. Additionally, Jennifer is the Coordinator for the Prairie Pest Monitoring Network (2008-present), her program developed the PPMN’s Blog (2015-2020), she is the editor for the PPMN’s Weekly Update (2008-present), and Editor for the PPMN website (2020-present). Jennifer will provide an update on insect pest risk by drawing upon her perspective and experience as a field crop entomologist with over 20 years of research experience and her collaborations with entomologists and agricultural researchers across western Canada. Her personal Twitter account of @bugs5132 connects the public to the Prairie Pest Monitoring Network, shares agricultural entomology information, and relates updates of what the IPM research team is doing.
